SUMMARY:What we carry: Living with pain
DESCRIPTION:What We Carry is a collaborative art-science project led by artist Marysa Dowling \, OH BRC\, the University of Oxford and the Chronic Pain Neurotechnology Network+. \nIt uses photography and creative expression to make the invisible experience of chronic pain visible. \nBy helping people articulate what is often misunderstood or difficult to verbalise\, the project offers a powerful platform for exploring the emotional and social dimensions of living with pain. \nThe What We Carry:Living with Pain in person exhibition will start on 25 October until 6 December at The Corridor Gallery \, situated on the Level 2 main entrance corridor of the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford. There will be an artists talk as part of the exhibition on 7 November. All information can be found online \nFor more information: Whatwecarry online and/or our Pain Theme web page Oxford Health BRC Pain Theme.

SUMMARY:Local Capacity and Capability for Research
DESCRIPTION:A one-day course designed to provide an understanding of the requirements of an NHS organisation when determining whether to take part in a particular research study as a host. It explains the principles of good study set up\, the information required by the R&D office and where it can be obtained. It introduces delegates to the various systems and documents associated with research and also provides some guidance on developing relationships with key support departments and stakeholders within an NHS organisation. \nCourse Structure \nThe first half of the day concentrates on making delegates familiar with process. The second half is spent putting everything into practice working through an example study. The course is a mixture of traditional trainer presentation with interactive activities and discussions. \nWho is the Course for? \nAll staff working in R&D offices\, who are responsible for assessing\, arranging and confirming local capacity and capability when taking part in research \nSponsors of health research\, particularly those from outside the NHS\, who will get a better insight into the requirements of NHS R&D to ensure that their study and documentation facilitate the process \nResearchers designing studies that will involve the NHS\, particularly those new to NHS research and/or from outside the NHS\, who can get a better insight into the requirements of NHS R&D and ensure that their study and documentation facilitate the process. \nMore information and registration.
