SUMMARY:Our Future Health mobile clinics (South Oxford)
DESCRIPTION:The Our Future Health programme aims to help people live healthier lives for longer through the discovery and testing of more effective approaches to prevention\, earlier detection and treatment of diseases. We are aiming to recruit up to 5 million adults who truly reflect the UK population. We launched recruitment in 2022 and are delighted to share that we now have over 2 million volunteers signed up so far. We’re continuing to roll out our appointment venues more widely and are keen to work with you to ensure the people of Oxford are well represented in the programme. \nVolunteers give their consent to join the research programme and provide secure access to their health records\, complete a questionnaire\, and attend an appointment to provide a blood sample and have some physical measurements taken. They are also offered information about their own health\, including their blood pressure and heart rate. More information about what’s involved is available here. \nThese Oxford clinics are part of our continued expansion\, joining existing Our Future Health appointment venues\, selected Boots stores and NHS Blood and Transplant locations across the UK in welcoming more people to take part.

SUMMARY:Who Are the Experts?
DESCRIPTION:Who Are the Experts? The Changing Landscape of Mental Health in the UK\n\n\n\nA panel discussion on the future of expertise in mental health research and policy. This event is part of the ANTITHESES platform\, funded by Wellcome. \nThe panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Ilina Singh. \nPanel Speakers \nWe’re delighted to welcome: \n\nDr David Crepaz-Keay\nProfessor Sir Simon Wessely\nAn additional speaker to be announced\n\nSpecial guests: The NeurOx YPAG \nAbout the event \nTransformations in the concept and sources of mental health ‘expertise’ are impacting how we think about diagnosis\, identity\, need and treatment. At the same time\, the UK is experiencing an unparalleled surge in people seeking mental health support\, with lengthy waitlists and significant inequalities in access to services. \nOur public event asks: What kinds of expertise should we trust to identify\, support and treat mental health needs? Speakers will address some difficult challenges: Is traditional medical expertise still relevant in an age of self-diagnosis through social media? How should other forms of expertise\, e.g. AI chatbots and lived experience\, figure in how we design future mental health support and policy? Will a more liberal perspective on ‘expertise’ help tackle the problem of inequalities in mental health access and support? How should we handle disagreements among such experts? \nPanel Discussion \nA panel of speakers representing different perspectives will discuss: “What role does ‘mental health expertise’ play in the future of psychiatry\, mental health science and policy?” \nThe floor will first be opened to questions and responses from the NeurOx Young People’s Advisory Group (NeurOx YPAG)\, which will then be followed by an audience Q&A. \nDoors open at 17:30 and the event will begin promptly at 18:00. Please arrive with good time to find your seat.

SUMMARY:Regulatory Inspection Ready
DESCRIPTION:This course is aimed at those who deliver research in a healthcare setting either in a Sponsor team or as a Host\, and that maybe subject to regulatory inspection. Preparation for Inspection is critical but compliance driven from preparation rather than from quality systems can lead to poor practice and Inspection findings. \nLast minute changes just prior to a visit can be very unhelpful and in some cases misleading and so this course will help delegates understand how to become inspection-ready for any inspection. Delegates will learn strategies that build confidence for an inspection from any of the regulators for example the MHRA\, Human Tissue Authority or Human Embryology & Fertilisation Authority. \nUpon successful completion of the course\, participants should be able to: \n\nExplain the types of inspections\, their purpose and jurisdiction that an active research organisation may experience\nDevelop an action plan to prepare for Inspection\nDevelop a strategy to assure compliance to legislation\nHave some knowledge of previous inspection findings\n\nGain an understanding of corrective actions and preventative actions \nMore information and registration.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Imposter phenomenon
DESCRIPTION:Recent research shows that 80% of professionals will experience ‘imposter phenomenon’\, often referred to as ‘imposter syndrome’\, at some point in their careers. Whilst it is prevalent\, this doesn’t stop it from being debilitating and disempowering as it can be associated with decreased job performance or burnout (Bravata et al 2020). \nThis workshop explores practical tips for managing imposter phenomenon\, from both an individual and systemic lens. \nIn this 3-hour virtual workshop you will: \n\nappreciate the often systemic nature of imposter phenomenon by understanding what in the system or culture is (possibly inadvertently) causing you to feel like an imposter. Which elements of this can you choose to minimise\, challenge or reframe?\nclarify your typical trigger situations\, trying out practical tools to help you challenge your negative self-talk and bring your strengths to bear in these situations\nengage in peer coaching with other delegates using solution-focused questions\, giving you the opportunity to form supportive networks and cultivate a new mindset around imposter phenomenon

SUMMARY:HIVE Mind Knowledge Sharing sessions in collaboration DHSC
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of our first\, online knowledge sharing session in July with colleagues from DHSC to support national efforts to reduce clinical trial study set-up times a maximum of 150 days\, we will be hosting a second session on Thursday 17th September 2026 11:00am-12:30pm via MS Teams (invite to follow). \nThe July session had over 160 colleagues in attendance\, and it was the start of an ongoing\, peer-supported dialogue for colleagues across the R&D community to share learning\, challenges\, and innovations in study set-up\, providing opportunity to engage directly with DHSC. \nLearning from this first session was that 60 minutes was not long enough. We are therefore increasing the time for this session to 90 minutes to allow more time for peer discussion. \nContact us to show your interest

SUMMARY:Workshop: Public speaking and presenting
DESCRIPTION:It is not unusual to have a fear of public speaking\, ‘glossophobia’\, but we don’t need to become a whole new person to excel at presenting. Instead\, we can change our approach so that we harness our strengths\, dial up our own authentic energy\, craft an engaging message – and deliver it with tailored stories and varied interaction on the day. \nWhether inspiring your department to work in a new way\, delivering a tough message to your wider team\, or running a Zoom session as part of a virtual conference\, at the heart of all these tasks is the need to successfully engage our audiences. Presenting and public speaking is an art that anyone can learn and master – from introverts\, to planners\, to those that thrive in the moment. \nDuring this workshop participants will: \n\n\nreflect on the personal strengths they can bring to presenting and public speaking \n\n\npractice ‘dialling up’ their authentic energy so as to increase their presence \n\n\ncraft the start of an upcoming message they have to deliver\, including relevant stories to engage audiences’ hearts as well as minds \n\n\nplan how to build in relevant interaction to make their delivery as engaging as possible \n\n\nlearn different strategies for dealing with whatever questions are thrown at them

SUMMARY:Psychedelic Therapy - mechanisms\, promises and challenges
DESCRIPTION:As evidence grows for psychedelic therapy across conditions such as depression\, addiction and disordered eating\, a new question emerges: how do we responsibly integrate these treatments into existing healthcare frameworks? \nIn this talk\, Dr David Erritzoe will begin with an overview of the field – from psychological and neurobiological role of psychedelics as catalysts of flexibility in “stuck” brain networks\, to key findings from recent clinical trials. He will then turn to the practical realists of implementation\, exploring what healthcare systems can do now to prepare for the coming wave of psychedelic therapies. Drawing on the example of ketamine service plots\, David will illustrate how collaboration between public health systems and emerging treatments could offer a balanced and scalable route forward – expanding access while building the evidence base within existing care structures. \nOrganiser email: rania.elgarf@psych.ox.ac.uk
