SUMMARY:Our Future Health mobile clinics (North Oxford)
DESCRIPTION:The Our Future Health programme aims to help people live healthier lives for longer through the discovery and testing of more effective approaches to prevention\, earlier detection and treatment of diseases. We are aiming to recruit up to 5 million adults who truly reflect the UK population. We launched recruitment in 2022 and are delighted to share that we now have over 2 million volunteers signed up so far. We’re continuing to roll out our appointment venues more widely and are keen to work with you to ensure the people of Oxford are well represented in the programme. \nVolunteers give their consent to join the research programme and provide secure access to their health records\, complete a questionnaire\, and attend an appointment to provide a blood sample and have some physical measurements taken. They are also offered information about their own health\, including their blood pressure and heart rate. More information about what’s involved is available here. \nThese Oxford clinics are part of our continued expansion\, joining existing Our Future Health appointment venues\, selected Boots stores and NHS Blood and Transplant locations across the UK in welcoming more people to take part.

DESCRIPTION:  \nIt is not unusual to have a fear of public speaking\, ‘glossophobia’\, but we don’t need to become a whole new person to excel at presenting. Instead\, we can change our approach so that we harness our strengths\, dial up our own authentic energy\, craft an engaging message – and deliver it with tailored stories and varied interaction on the day. \nWhether inspiring your department to work in a new way\, delivering a tough message to your wider team\, or running a Zoom session as part of a virtual conference\, at the heart of all these tasks is the need to successfully engage our audiences. Presenting and public speaking is an art that anyone can learn and master – from introverts\, to planners\, to those that thrive in the moment. \nDuring this workshop participants will: \n\n\nreflect on the personal strengths they can bring to presenting and public speaking \n\n\npractice ‘dialling up’ their authentic energy so as to increase their presence \n\n\ncraft the start of an upcoming message they have to deliver\, including relevant stories to engage audiences’ hearts as well as minds \n\n\nplan how to build in relevant interaction to make their delivery as engaging as possible \n\n\nlearn different strategies for dealing with whatever questions are thrown at them

DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr Melanie Ivarsson\, CEO of the Health Data Research Service \nSpeaker bio: Melanie currently leads the Health Data Research Service – a new organisation backed by the UK Government and Wellcome Trust which aims to revolutionise how UK data healthcare is used. She is currently leading efforts to accelerate the understanding of what causes disease and the discovery of life-saving drugs\, while protecting the public’s data. \nMelanie began her career as an academic neuroscience researcher in the UK\, USA\, and Sweden. She has also worked in industry\, primarily exploring ways to develop new drug targets.
