Count Me In: giving patients a say in research opportunities

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT) has introduced Count Me In, a new approach that gives patients the choice to hear about research studies they may be eligible to take part in.

Taking part in research is always optional. Count Me In simply makes it easier for people to find out about research, so they can decide for themselves whether they want to be involved.

Research helps improve mental health and community services by testing new treatments, improving care and learning more about what works best. By offering everyone the same opportunity to hear about research, Count Me In aims to make research fairer and more inclusive.

If you choose to “Count Me In,” you may be contacted with information about research studies that could be relevant to you. You can change your mind at any time, and choosing not to take part will not affect your care in any way.

Professor Andrea Cipriani

Professor Andrea Cipriani Director of the NIHR Clinical Research Facility: Oxford Health and Associate Director of Research and Development at OHFT said: “Count Me In is about giving people clear, fair opportunities to hear about research, while ensuring choice and respect remain at the centre of everything we do”.

You can find more information, including answers to common questions, a short animation and downloadable resources, on the Count Me In web pages.
