Over recent months Oxford Health Clinical Research Facility (OH CRF) colleagues have been even busier than usual delivering a wide range of mental health studies.
The CRF runs a mix of commercial and non-commercial studies investigating a range conditions including dementia, depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The facility also collaborates with pharmaceutical companies to explore new medications for areas including treatment-resistant depression and early psychosis.
OH CRF colleagues have been working hard to coordinate study visits across their eight examination rooms, processing blood, saliva and cerebrospinal fluid samples from study participants in their laboratory to investigate biological markers of health and treatment response.
Over the summer, OH CRF announced it would host the National Institute of Health and Care Research Oxford Health BioResource Centre, in partnership with the University of Oxford. The Centre is currently running studies into anxiety and depression, severe mental illness and children and young people’s genetics.
Dr Katharine Smith, Clinical Lead at OH CRF said: “Well done to all of the OH CRF staff who, as always, are working very hard to make everything happen and ensure that studies run smoothly!”
