On Wednesday 20 May, the NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF): Oxford Health will welcome staff, patients, and members of the public for tea and cake at our annual Open Afternoon.
The Open Afternoon, offers an opportunity to:
- Learn about mental health research taking place in Oxford,
- Meet members of our research team,
- Take a tour of our Facility, including treatment rooms and laboratory
- Find out how you could take part in research studies or contribute your views to shape future research.

The event takes place on International Clinical Trials Day, an annual celebration to honour the first clinical trial conducted by James Lind in 1747 and to recognise the contributions of clinical research professionals worldwide.
The CRF: Oxford Health delivers a wide range of clinical research studies, working with patients, carers, and the public to ensure research is inclusive, accessible, and informed by lived experience.

Angela Conlan, Public and Patient Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PPIE) Lead, told us:
“International Clinical Trials Day provides an opportunity to initiate conversations about research.
“Our Open Afternoon aims to make research more visible and approachable, whether you are a patient, a member of staff, or simply curious about how research happens and how it can make a difference.”
CRF: Oxford Health Director Professor Andrea Cipriani said: “Events such as these are a great way to show the ‘behind the scenes’ work that our OH CRF staff carry out.”
Use this form to register your attendance for the event on Wednesday 20 May, 1pm to 3.30pm.
