Student Feedback Highlights Excellence of NIHR Clinical Research Facility: Oxford Health

The NIHR Clinical Research Facility: Oxford Health (CRF: Oxford Health) has been recognised for providing an outstanding student placement experience, following publication of the Oxford Brookes University Celebrating Excellence in Practice Education 2026 report.

Feedback from a mental health nursing student highlighted the CRF: Oxford Health as

An exceptional place for me to learn. Learning about the ethics in research has helped me to develop a strong ethical foundation which is essential in any nursing role.

The CRF is a structured environment with a focus on education and training, the team are wonderful and supportive. They ensured that I received the support I needed to succeed.

This feedback reflects key strengths of the placement experience within the CRF: Oxford Health

  • A strong foundation in research ethics and governance
  • A structured, well-organised learning environment
  • Clear focus on education and training
  • A supportive and engaged multidisciplinary team

Together, these elements create a setting where students can build confidence, develop skills, and succeed in practice.

Practice placements are central to healthcare education, allowing students to apply theory in real-world settings and develop their professional identity.

Recognition from Oxford Brookes University highlights the role of the our CRF in supporting the development of future mental health nurses and the wider research workforce.
